Lesson #132: They Just Don’t Know

A few days ago, we ran into a couple of people in the store that my husband knew. They stopped to chat and the gentleman looked over at Mila, binky in mouth and exclaimed, “what are you doing with that thing in your mouth? You’re too big for that!” Then he turned to me and asked, “how old is she, 3, 4 years old?”

I quickly replied, “17 months”. The look on his face was priceless. “Oh! Then I apologize; you’re not too old for the binky.” He then looked at Dan and said, “you make a big baby!”

I couldn’t do anything but laugh. That just goes to show – if you don’t know, just keep your mouth shut. And by the way, I’ve been tirelessly trying to get that pesky thing away from her and Mila’s not having it.

Newborn Lesson #58: Get The What?

August 17, 2011:

What’s in a name?

That which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet.*

8/26: That thing she's laying on...a Boppy šŸ™‚

I asked dan the other night to hand me the “Boppy”. You know, that semi-circular pillow that fits around your waist & sits on your lap. He looked all over the place, spinning in circles when it was right in front of him big as day! Then IĀ realized he calls a pacifier a boppy. I’ve always known it as a binky, nookie or pacifier; never a boppy.

Guess we gotta get on the same page with the lingo.
