Today I am thankful for SHOPPING! I had a wonderful day shopping with the baby girls and Kim. I found jeans and sweaters that actually look nice on me and that’s really the best part.
Today I am thankful that I can provide for my child without any hardship. (Honestly, I think Mila is spoiled and something needs to change about that).
When I was young, my parents struggled to provide for my brother and I. I had a lot of hand-me-down clothes from my cousin, (that quickly didn’t work for me because she’s so petite) and we had a lot of boxed macaroni and cheese and hotdogs for dinner, (which may be why I loathe hotdogs now). I did learn values from this and there isn’t a single thing I regret from my childhood. I’m just thankful that I don’t have to feel that struggle and desperation that my mother did, and that if Mila destroys a pair of shoes, I can easily go out and buy her a new pair.
Just because it gets cooler outside doesn’t mean that all those warmer weather outfits go to waste!
I’ve learned to add a pair of pants to a tank-top that was originally paired with a skirt or shorts.
Or, a pair of tights to a skirt or dress. And when it gets even colder, throw on a long-sleeved shirt with that dress and tights.
Or even long sleeves to a tank top.
It all really works and you get even more use out of those summer clothes that still fit.
You can also do this with items that are larger sizes. For example, in the last picture, that tank top is 24 months. I purchased it for next spring and used it this fall.

Sometimes daddies just don’t know. 🙂
And yup, that’s a bald spot. It grew back.
July 31, 2011: It’s amazing the simple (read: common sense) things you learn. For example, “Summer” is a brand, not a clothing season.
